BEHIND THE BRAND
Hi , I'm Kinda Hamoui, the Afro-Lebanese designer behind Fusion by HK. I’m a strong believer that when we find our purpose in life, great things can happen, sometimes we find it young, sometimes a little older. For me, during my younger years I was always fascinated by unique patterns, bright colours and eclectic designs, and I continued to search and experiment until I discovered in the process what it is that serves my purpose, and found it fueled by pure passion. Being born into a blend of backgrounds and culture, with both of my parents being of African roots (Mum: Lybian -Lebanese, (Dad: Ghanaian-Lebanese). I was born in Lebanon and grew up in Ghana, West Africa,in a home mixed with all kinds of flavors !
I see life through a lens that has been informed by the many places I call home.
Growing up being surrounded by strong women, who always looked their best no matter the occasion, has inspired the motive behind my brand. Embracing my cultural background, passion for art and fashion, and desire to empower women is what drove me to create Fusion by HK.
Fusion By HK was established in September 2014. My designs drew attention and with the start of instagram, I showcased them that was the beginning my journey! Later on that same summer, I took a leap of faith and started infusing my African roots into my designs, and in May 2016, launched my African Line. I organised the first African fashion show in my hometown of Tripoli, Lebanon! That marked the reveal of “FUSION” - what I chose to name that collection!
It’s been a bumpy but exciting ride, and I’m so proud to say that today, Fusion by HK is an international brand that celebrates the strength, versatility of all women. I will continue to keep my collections eclectic and diverse, ranging from bridal gowns to RTW to timeless summer dresses and have so many new surprises soon!
My goal is to continue to revolutionize the fashion world, using bolder prints and creating even more unique designs, infusing the culture and heritage of the Middle East and Africa to bring to life my vision through fashion pieces that are accessible to women all around the world. Fusion by HK goes beyond just a clothing line - it is a movement to empower women and celebrate my culture, embracing all shapes and sizes along the way, across continents!
